Thanks to Karen Thomson, You Can Now Live Your Best Life While Being Sober

Alcohol has become a staple for celebrations and enjoyment; when you are having a quiet night in, attending a corporate dinner, getting a promotion, or hanging out with friends, you reach for a drink. If alcohol is not there, how would one even know how to celebrate life? Sooner than you know, the glass turns into a bottle, and you start to rely heavily on it until it becomes a part of your identity. Karen Thomson, the founder of Super Sexy Sobriety, has been through this excruciating period herself.

Karen has experienced the pain that alcohol causes and how it destroys your mental health, physical health, self-esteem, and your relationship with peers. It has been 18 years since she left that life behind, and even though that time is reminiscent of despair and sadness, it has taught Karen several life-changing lessons. It has made her believe in her own power and greatness. Today, she is addiction-free, wild and full of energy.

With her own journey in mind, Karen has created Super Sexy Sobriety, a platform promoting sobriety as fun, healthy and fearless. She is also set to launch her My Super Sexy Podcast very soon. The primary purpose of this venture is to allow people to accept sobriety proudly and wholeheartedly without any shame or stigma.

Super Sexy Sobriety is based on ten guiding principles — that Karen practices herself — which include the following:

  1. Starting small and taking things one day at a time.
  2. Aiming for extraordinaire and dreaming big.
  3. Nourishing the body, mind, and spirit.
  4. Moving the body daily.
  5. Treating health as a lifestyle.
  6. Striving to be optimistic.
  7. Being surrounded by the right people.
  8. Expressing gratitude at all times.
  9. Valuing experience over materialistic possessions.
  10. Finding lessons in our shortcomings.

Recreating the sobriety narrative, Karen wants everyone to understand that being sober doesn’t have to be boring. Our thoughts create reality, so we must not limit our beliefs that sobriety is limiting and push through with the idea that a beautiful, exciting life is waiting for us. The ability to prosper, love, and succeed is already within us.

Here’s to sobriety that is filled with brilliance and more.
